Generally omeprazole is well tolerated and has been on the market for decades. The following adverse effects may present in fewer than 1% of the population taking omeprazole: headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomit, skin rash, constipation.
RESTRICTIONS DURING PREGNANCY AND NURSING
There are no controlled studies done with pregnant women. The safety of using omeprazole during pregnancy is therefore not known and You should NOT use omeprazole while pregnant or lactating without consulting and carefully evaluating the situation with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Omeprazole may prolong the active life of Diazepam, Warferin and Fenitonin, drugs which are metabolize by the liver. There is a chance that omeprazol may interfere with the absorption of drugs for which the stomach pH is important for its effectiveness such as Ketoconazol, Iron Salts and others. Consult with your doctor for a full list of interactions.
